MIRIAM

As a therapist and an artist, I strongly believe in the healing and clarity that come through creative self-expression. This belief, developed during my time teaching and studying art, is the cornerstone of my therapeutic practice. I believe the process of connecting with and expressing our truest selves, within the safe and accepting space of therapy, is what lights the path towards growth, insight, and change.

Through my formal education, extensive training in different therapeutic modalities, and experience working across multiple mental health settings, my approach to nurturing creative self-expression has broadened to include play, narrative work, and relational work, in addition to art. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art and Education from UC Davis and a Master of Social Work degree from Sacramento State, and am I am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I was born in the Bay Area but Sacramento is my home. On my own time, I am often engaged in my own preferred methods of self-expression - working in my garden, spending time with friends and family, taking my dog for walks, and creating my own art. I enjoy a variety of mediums including paint, collage, fabric, and, of course, clay.

SAMMY

My approach as a therapist is built on the foundational belief that each of us holds our own answers within ourselves. I believe this to be true for people of all ages. My role is to provide an empathetic and non-judgmental space for you to rediscover those truths. In rediscovering your own truths, you can build upon your existing strengths and live life with greater peace and in greater alignment with your values.

Drawing from my education in social work and my experience working across multiple mental health settings, I commit to using an integrative and holistic approach in my practice. I am also trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and certified in PC-CARE from UC Davis. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a Master of Social Work degree from Portland State University.

I was born and raised in Sacramento and after time spent living up and down the West Coast, I came back to Sacramento in 2017 with my husband and our pup - to stay. I consider myself an introvert and am most at ease when Iā€™m reading, gardening, spending intentional time with close friends and family, or chasing after my toddler twins. While it was my own journey with anxiety and self-love that led me to doing this work, hope is what keeps me in it.
